Ground-based Synthetic Aperture Radar, RF electronics design

Kepler is developing the RF and digital cards for its own pulse-based SAR system designed for ground operation (ground displacements measured in blind spots of space-based missions) and tomography for volumetric measurements (such as for vegetation biomass estimation).

A series of ground-based Synthetic Aperture radar systems in P, C and X-bands were produced and this helped to gain a solid knowledge of the overall SAR technology that enables understanding the properties of the SAR data and the kind of information that can be extracted from it.

Ground-based systems are used to validate technologies to be installed in space, such as for the ESA Biomass mission or Sentinel-1 tomographic companion mission.

Custom RF cards are also available for potential customers interested in building their own SAR systems.
